How To Improve Search Engine Ranking On Google
First of all, i want you to know that there are many (many) factors that can and will impact your search engine optimization. This is why in this blog post we are going to focus on improving search engine rankings in the most basic way possible. With that said, let’s get into the actual content![sociallocker id=”956″] Thanks you for sharing! You can Donwnload Your Checklist Here[/sociallocker]
- Searching For The Right Topic
First of all, let’s start with one of the most (in not the most) important things your need to do before starting the search engine optimization process. The first thing that you need to do is to find if the actual topic that you want to write about is actually something that people search for. You can do that by going to the Google Keyword Planer and search for a keyword/s that people actually search for.
Here i have to warn you because sometimes when people want to improve search engine ranking their ability to write a natural looking post decreases dramatically. Although working on your search engine optimization is a good thing because of a potential increase in visitors, you still need to focus on providing valuable content that will help the other person.
- Your Headline Is Important Use It Wisely
Composing a great headline that will make people wanna check out what you have, can be difficult! But at the same time, your headline is not only there to attract more people to your blog/website, it’s also there to help you improve search engine ranking too! Including your keyword into your headline is something that you want to do every time you have the chance.
But at the same time, if you have a hard time creating a great headline with your keyword/s inside, you may want to check my blog post on 8 Useful Places To Get New Content Ideas. Inside this blog post, you will find a couple websites that can help you create headlines for your blog/website.
- The Importance Of Your Blog Post URL
Most of the time, when writing your headline (title) in WordPress, the headline will automatically become your blog post URL. But the thing about all this is that sometimes, your actual headline is too long which results in a strange (shorter or word missing) blog post URL.
The reason i want you to know that is because i want you to make sure that your keyword is actually inside your blog post URL. You can simply press the “Edit” button and check if your keyword is actually part of the blog posts URL.
I need to warn you though that once composing/creating your headline and checking your URL, you don’t want to change them. Mostly the URL of your blog! The reason i say that is because if your blog post gets shared a lot, you can lose all the shares and potential visitors because the URL that people have shared will be different.
- Improve Search Engine Ranking With Images
I remember, ranking a blog post on the top of the second page of google by testing different ways of search engine optimization. And one of the things that i did back then way to use images. But before you start spamming your blog post with images just to improve search engine ranking, you may want to think twice.
The reason i say this is simple, you don’t want to look like a spammer! But if an opportunity presents itself to you that requires you to use images, go for it!
But before you start uploading your images to your blog/website there is another thing that can help you improve search engine ranking. Make sure to change the name of the image file and include your keyword inside. Once you do this, upload your image and make sure to include your keyword inside the “Alt Text” of the image.
- H1, H2, H3 Tags
According to the Yoast SEO Plugin for WordPress is that your keyword should appear at least in one H1, H2 or H3 headings. Whenever i have the change, i always include the keyword inside the heading (H1,H2,H3). One of the things i don’t do is using multiple H1 headings! According to some people, multiple H1 tags can confuse google search engines about the actual topic of your content, which can result in decrees in search engine rankings.
But on the other side, if used properly, H1, H2, H3 (etc…) can help you improve search engine ranking and your visitors because it will be easier for them to scan your content.
- Your Actual Content
Content is king they say and they are totally right! Creating content is one of the most important things if you want to grow your business or brand. Going for a 200 words blog post jam packed with keywords is not the best thing to do for your business. If you want to improve search engine ranking, you may want to go for at least (did i say, at least? I think i did!) 500 words blog post! Anything above that it’s even better.
One of the things that i did to rack my blog post (back then) was to include my keyword in the first 100 words of my blog post. Then i was trying to include my keyword on every paragraph, which according to google is 97-100 words.
- Bold, Italicize, Underline
Another thing that you can do to improve your search engine optimization is to Bold, Italicize and Underline your keyword/s. According to some people, this will help google search engines (spiders) determine what your content/blog post is all about.
- Yoast SEO Plugin
If you’re using Yoast SEO Plugin on your website/blog, you may want to take advantage of the “Edit Snippet” option that Yoast provides you with. Once you click on “Edit Snippet” you will see a “Meta Description” option that you can use to describe your blog post and include your keyword/s.
Most of the time the Yoast Plugin will automatically pull your headline and a part of your content, but it will be better if you customize your “Meta Description” manually and make sure that is something you want.
NOTE: Please note that you want to include your keyword into the Yoast Plugin “Focus Keyword” box. This will help you improve search engine ranking and also help Yoast provide you with the best information possible to help you out.
